A proud Air Force Brat, I was born in Clovis, New Mexico, and had the privilege of living in Okinawa, Texas, and Oklahoma before being raised in Atlanta, Georgia. My journey led me to the University of Georgia, where I earned a Bachelor’s in Journalism (Advertising) in 1982, with a minor in Psychology and Behavioral Sciences.

About Kim Brand

Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.

Married for 30 years, James and I raised our two children, Michael and Madison, in Lawrenceville, Georgia. Michael remains in Atlanta with his wife, Nikki, and our two granddaughters, while Madison has made her home in Washington State, where we miss seeing our other granddaughter and grandson regularly.

Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?

For over 25 years, I built a rewarding career in advertising, working as a national account executive at the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, contributing to a top recruitment advertising agency, launching a branch office of a national firm, and serving as Vice President of Client Services at Rich/Gardner Advertising for a decade. My passion has always been connecting with people, understanding their needs, and crafting communication strategies that bring ideas to life. In 2008, my husband, James, and I decided to escape the “rat race” and semi-retire in Spring City, Tennessee—my father’s hometown. We ran a custom cabinet shop for several years before shifting our focus to managing rental properties, including homes and RV lots. Staying engaged with our community is important to me, and I manage several Spring City Facebook groups that keep over 4,200 residents informed about local events, businesses, animals, sales and opportunities. Additionally, as acting Band Manager of The Michael Seabolt Band (and hubby as their drummer) we enjoy our “rock & roll careers” at gigs around town!

Q: What advice would you give to people?

For me, the beauty is in the details—thinking things through and planning ahead has always been the key to success. Life is an adventure, and I can’t wait to see what’s next!

Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?

James and I are avid sports fans, cheering on our beloved Georgia Bulldogs, Atlanta Braves, and more. When we’re not watching the game, you’ll likely find us on Watts Bar Lake, enjoying pontoon rides with friends. As I turn 65 this year, I’m looking ahead to full retirement within the next 5-10 years, with plans to travel cross-country in our fifth wheel and, most importantly, spend more time spoiling our grandchildren.

Going on 17 years in Spring City and the Wolf Creek Community.

Q: What current or former local business makes you the most nostalgic about our community?

With my roots deep in Spring City, remembering my visits to my grandparents store, Smith Grocery on the main highway. Best bologna sandwich and grape sodas next to the Greyhound Bus Station!

Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?

Living the “lake life” is our favorite — but the small town feel and great friends we’ve met along the way is so special.

Q: If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would y’all meet for this lunch?

My deep love of music steers me to wanting to lunch with Paul McCartney. I had the pleasure of briefly meeting him when I was 15 and would enjoy hearing more about his journey.. On a sunny day on Nick’s Lakeside Grill would be lovely
