I am a lifetime resident of Rhea County. I live in the Frazier community and attend New Union Baptist Church. I serve on the board of directors for Mainstreet Dayton and for Rhea Richland Senior Neighbors. I am retired and living it.
About Dorothy Anderson
Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
I have been married to Donald Anderson for 51 years. We have 3 children and 2 grand children. Our son, Dennis Fine, is employed at Nokian Tyres. Daughter, Allison Bowman, is employed at South Rhea Animal Hospital. Daughter, Amanda Anderson, is employed at First Baptist Church in Dayton and the Tennessee Valley Baptist Association. Granddaughters, Megan and Taylor Bowman attend Rhea County High School.
Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?
I worked in the hospitality industry until 2017. I then worked for Rhea Heritage Preservation Foundation and Full Service Mortgage.
Q: What advice would you give to people?
Always look for ways to serve your community. It fosters friendships and invests in the future.
Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?
Playing with my great grandchildren and teaching them about their community.

All my life.
Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?
Nigel Chadwick comes to mind.
Q: What current or former local business makes you the most nostalgic about our community?
Redford’s 5 & 10 cent store. (It was where Gathering Place Too (Scoopy’s) is now.
Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?
Everyone comes together and goes above and beyond to help in hard times.
Q: If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would y’all meet for this lunch?
Joyce Meyer. I would like to tell her how much her books and sermon’s have helped me over the years. We would go to Screen Door, I think.

Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?
The Chosen.
Q: (Even for friends or family), what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
I am pretty much an open book! Maybe that I can’t swim.
Q: What would you rate a 10 out of 10?
Time with friends is always a 10. Even in sad times, being with those close to you soothes and comforts.
Q: Who inspires you to be better?
My granddaughters. I want to be a good example for them.
Q: Finally, what 3 words or phrases come to mind when you think of the word HOME?
Sanctuary from life’s disappointments. Peace of mind and heart. Joy, just the joy of life.
