My name is Jake Downs. I came to Rhea County in December of 2022. I am 32 years old and moved here from Arkansas to escape the drug addiction that had taken control of every aspect of my life for 15 years, leading to countless incarcerations. I struggled with meth addiction, which eventually led me to fentanyl and multiple overdoses. During my last arrest, I lost everything and knew I was done, but I didn’t know what to do or where to go. But God led me here to Rhea County, where I found RockHouse Ministries. My life has completely changed—mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
I now have over two years clean and sober, am currently enrolled to become a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist, and serve as the Men’s Program Director for RockHouse. We house 30 men who are seeking the same recovery I once sought, and I am able to guide them through the steps of recovery. I am now married to the absolute love of my life, and we have a six-month-old daughter. I have been given back everything that was taken from me and more! Tennessee is my home!
